Kent algısı, kentin kendine özgü, tek ve biricik olan yönlerini, onu diğer kentlerden farklı kılan özelliklerini ifade ettiği kadar; kentin yaşanabilirlik kriterleri açısından değerlendirilmesini içeren geniş bir alanı ortaya koyar. Yaşanabilirlik kavramı ise, insan ve yaşadığı mekan arasındaki ilişkinin tanımlanabilmesi için kullanılan bir dizi ilkeyi içermektedir. Kentli nüfusun ağırlığının hissedilir ölçüde artması ve var olan hızlı değişimin etkilerinin en çok hissedildiği mekanlar olarak kentlerin öne çıkması, o mekanı paylaşanlar açısından yaşanabilirliği tanımlayan ilkeleri sorgulanır hale getirmiştir. Bahsi geçen kriterler ekoloji, arazi kullanımı, kamusal alanlar, ulaşım, sağlık, güvenlik, tasarım, eğitim/kültür ve kalkınma gibi çok farklı boyutları ele almaktadır. Kentler içinde yaşayan her bir insana göre farklı şekillerde algılanabilir, çünkü her insanın kentin ilişki kurduğu, önemsediği, dikkate aldığı farklı boyutları vardır. Bu çerçevede üniversite öğrencilerinin gözündeki Karaman kent algısının araştırılıp, beklentilerin ortaya konulması önem arz etmektedir. Kent algısının şekillenmesinde pek çok boyut olmakla birlikte, bu boyutlardan öğrenci için daha belirgin farkları ortaya koyabilecek güvenlik, barınma, sosyal imkanlar ve ulaşımla ilgili değerlendirmelerin öğrenilmesi, bu doğrultuda beklentilerin ortaya konulması ve öneriler getirilmesi çalışmanın amacını oluşturmaktadır. Elde edilecek verilerin kentsel politika yapıcılar için de faydalanabilecekleri önemli göstergeler ortaya koyacağı düşünülmektedir. Araştırmada öncelikle kent algısı ve bu algının belirleyicisi olan kriterler kavramsal açıdan incelenecek, yerli ve yabancı literatür taranarak bir değerlendirme yapılacaktır. Kent algısının belirleyici kritelerinden güvenlik, barınma, sosyal imkanlar ve ulaşımla ilgili değerlendirmeler, Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey Üniversitesi öğrencilerine yapılacak bir anketle ölçülmeye çalışılacaktır. Basit tesadüfi örneklem tekniği ile yapılacak anketler, SPSS paket programı aracılığı ile değerlendirilecektir.

The urban perception reveals a wide range of aspects of the urban, including its exclusive and unique aspects, as well as its assessment of the liveability of urban criteria, as well as its differentiation from other cities. The concept of liveability includes a set of principles that are used to define the relationship between human and its living space. Increasing of the urban population and the prominence of the urban as the places where the effects of the rapid change are felt the most, makes questionable the principles that define liveability in terms of those who share the place. The given criteria tackle many different dimensions such as ecology, land use, public spaces, transport, health, safety, design, education/culture and development. Urban can be perceived in different ways according to each person living in it, because each person has different dimensions that the city has established, cared about and considered. Within this framework, exploring the Karaman urban perception in the eyes of the university students and revealing their expectation is important. While the shaping of urban perception has many dimensions, learning about safety, accommodation, social facilities and transportation related evaluations that can reveal more significant differences for students from these dimensions, putting forward expectations and suggestions in this direction is the aim of the study. It is estimated that the data obtained will provide important indications for urban policy makers. In the study, primarily the urban perception and the criteria that determine this perception are conceptually will be examined, domestic and foreign literature will be reviewed and an evaluation will be carried out. Evaluations related to security, accommodation, social facilities and transportation which are determinant criteria of urban perception will be tried to be measured by a questionnaire to students at Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University. Questionnaires to be conducted by simple random sampling technique will be evaluated through SPSS package program.
