Starting with the change of traditional roles of the family members, technological and scientific developments, industrialization, modernization, urbanization all deeply influence the family, the most basic institution of the society, and its members. In other words, in this rapidly changing society family takes part in the center of society. Rapid social changes that have been experienced keep the definition, types, structure, and function of the family on the agenda. Changes in the structure and function of the family, emerging of new family types, increase in divorce, single-parent families, extra-marital partnership, the number of children born out of wedlock and delayed parenting are considered as the primary changes in the family. All these changes compel us to approach the topics of sociology of the family from different perspectives. Technology plays a key role in disclosing social changes. Family members attach more importance to technology and use it more often than they did in the past. In this context study, the radical changes caused by the rapidly developing technology in the family will be examined with the descriptive analysis method based on the literature review in the context of the concepts of parent, child and childhood. While the digitalized world is rapidly changing in a new direction, it is observed that there is a transformation from traditional family structure to today's child-centered nuclear family structure. Today, parents pay more attention to their children, attach more value on them, and attribute more meaning to them. With drastic changes in parent-child relationship, the concepts of parent(ing) and child(hood) are gradually replaced by those of digital parent(ing) and digital child(hood). From this point of view, the purpose of article is to examine the concepts of digital parent(hood) and digital child(hood) with the impact of social change and digitalization in the context of the family on the change in the family structure. },author={Özge ZEYBEKOĞLU AKBAŞ-Cansu DURSUN},year={2020},journal={Turkish Studies-Social Sciences}}
