Developments in communication technologies, especially in the last 30 years, and innovations in the digital field led to the introduction of the concept called New Media into the literature. Increasing interest in digital media such as Internet Journalism, Social Media Broadcasting and Data Journalism, in which New Media technologies are generally used; The fact that the advantages of these new generation practices were recognized by the newspaper owners and started to be used by journalists in news production and the expectation of new graduates to be informed about these issues made it compulsory to renew the course content of journalist education institutions and to add new courses to these programs. In this study, the educational plans and course contents of the departments such as journalism, new media, media and communication, in the state and private universities in Turkey, were examined and the extent to which they could adapt to the new generation journalism and new media practices was tried to be revealed. Compared to state universities, the curriculum of the foundation universities, which have a more dynamic structure, can adapt to the innovations faster due to its institutional structure and try to meet the expectations of the sector in order to see more demand in commercial terms; It will be compared with the programs of the journalism departments of state universities and quantitative-qualitative differences between them will be determined.
