While many factors related to person himself, his / her family and environment cause the first development of this problem. Continuous and uncontrolled use constantly expands the problem spiral that the person is in. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a sharing-based self-help model that supports individuals with alcohol use problems that support the quiting alcohol process and help them make sense of the processes they turn to. This study basically aims to discover the experiences of individuals who continue this group in the process that evolved from the first use to the sobriety, the effect of the group in the process of sobriety and what the group means for these indivualds in total. In this study, which was prepared according to the qualitative research design, evolving processes of individuals who continue to anonymous alcoholics group from first alcohol use to quitting it were investigated thematically. These processes have been advanced in the focus of determining the motivation to start and continue the use of alcohol, learn about the changes they experience due to alcohol and discover the effectiveness of anonymous alcoholics in stopping use. The data were interpreted under seven sub-themes, including the childhood perceptions of the individuals who going to anonymous alcoholics, their first drink experiences, the effects of alcohol on their lives, their quitting drinking decisions, their meeting with anonymous alcoholics and it’s contribution to their lives. },author={Büşra UZUN-Nur Betül KIRCA - Zeynep ÇETİNKAYA - Ömer Miraç YAMAN - Hakan KARAMAN},year={2020},journal={Turkish Studies-Social Sciences}}
